Questions about stacking two Lynx kayaks

I plan to transport two Mirage Lynx kayaks stacked in a truck bed or on a rack and have some questions.

1. What is the height of two Lynx kayaks (w/o accessories) stacked one on top of the other?
2. How do H-Rails or H-Bars affect the fit and height of the two?
3. If these items are removed for transport can I leave the mounting hardware on or will that damage hulls, etc.?

They are not going to stack properly with accessories mounted.

If you were to mount Hrails the hardware for them is just a couple of screws and track nuts so they would be easy to remove and leave a clean top deck. The question would be whether its a good idea or not. I would question the longevity of the screw insert over time if you are removing those rails on a weekly basis.

If you avoid the Hrails and just use track mounted accessories then it would be easy to pop those out and go on with your day, and tracks are designed for that.

Good points. Its probably not a good idea to remove the mounting screws over and over again. Wish all the connections were track mounted.

I got the hrails and they are cool, but I took them off already. I kind of like the open simplicity of mounting things to the tracks and sticking with that

We're buying two and we'll probable leave one without the H-Rails and/or H-Bar and stack the one with on top for transport. Unfortunately, our ideal configurations would be one with H-Rails and the other with H-Bar.

Wait, how the hell did you get your h-rails already? I don't think Hobie has even received the materials in the factory yet.

I was going to post a question about whether stacking a couple of Lynx kayaks on my SUV roof would harm them and saw this thread. I'm planning to take 2 of them about 1500 miles, with some rough roads along the way. Is stacking them OK? If so, is it better to stack them right side up, or upside down?

(2) Lynx stacked right side up measure about 17" at their thickest point.
I had to stack mine on a roof top carrier when I bought them. I should have put something between them. I drove about 350 miles and the bottom boat's HOBIE decals were worn and damaged.
I have to say the decals on these boats are not up to typical Hobie standards.

I have always trailered my Hobies (16 / Wave / Bravo / AI's) but thought these would be easy to rooftop. One might be OK, but putting 2 on top is more trouble than I want. So I found a used Yakima Rack & Roll. So I am back to trailering - but now I can leave them rigged and ready to use.

I also found after a few times out that it worked well to get the scupper hole cart - and skip the boat ramp / crowd all together. I just slide it off the trailer, slip the dolly in before it is all the way off - easily walk to the shoreline, put the dolly into the Hobie crate - and head out.

Thanks for the feedback. Wish I could trailer but for various reasons it isn't an option. I'm wanting to stack the 2 Lynx in order to leave room for a narrow rooftop cargo box, but not sure it's a good idea to stack them after reading of your experience. I'll be in Mexico a lot of the way, the land of speed bumps, so there would be a lot of bumps along the way. Have to re-think this.
