Hi,

I have the European HC 17 from 1991 and the mast does not have a comtip.
I am thinking about buying the mast split kit because of a transport problem.
In this context I have two questions under the premise that I am not interested in doing regattas:

* Am I still able to raise the boat when it has capsized? The split kit has its own weight and the lever arm is then bigger.
* Is the risk higher that the mast breaks because of the applied kit?

Many thanks in advance and regards,
Felix

I would contact Hobie Europe directly. They do not monitor these forums and we don't have experience with this kit.
