Hi, i need to start thinking about storing my 14 for the winter. i have a few options and question about tearing it down.

1st option
is to just store it as it is now on the trailer with tramp in a heated garage. is there any downside to leaving the tramp on? i really don't want to take it off, it looks like a lot of work to re-thread it in the spring..

2nd option
can i take off the hulls at the "stilts" and store the tramp and frame inside and rack the hulls on the garage wall?

3rd option
remove the tramp and store in a barn basement - keep in mind it's canada and will freeze. i don't see a downside to this besides taking the tramp off.

I guess my real question is, how difficult and long would it take a first time hobie owner to dismantle a hobie for cold storage? how far should i go in the dismantle and is it difficult to re-assemble for the spring?

i would ultimately love to just store it as is in the heated garage although it's not my garage and i would like to try to minimize the space it takes up..

Its very easy to dismantle a hobie 14, the toughest can be separating at the pylons, where a big rubber mallet is sometimes needed, with a tap or three on each corner, till its separated. But if some stupid bastard has put silicone sealant into the joint, FORGET it. Actually its not a bad thing to do, as it helps clean out any corrosion. Its also easy to reassemble.

Geoff.
