Second Hand prices

I have been monitoring the prices of Hobie 14s with trailers, and I have come to the conclusion that after 20 years of loving my cat, I will sell it in parts, because I am likely to get a far better price. If I sell it as is, I will likely get $700 to $800. But in parts:

Main 6 batten sail: $300
Jib $150
Second Jib $100
rudders $150
mast $100
5 to 1 Harken block $60
mast Rigging with trapeeze $50
Jib rigging furler and cross brace and sheets $80
registered Trailer $200 maybe more
Hulls, recently repaired at bottom, otherwise great no soft spots $150
New Harness $120
2 sets of sail battens $120
Trampoline, old but good $80

Now its all at risk, but that adds to $1660. Makes it a no brainer really. But still emotionally sad. It also illustrates the futility of "doing up" a really worn out boat.

The sum of the parts has almost always been worth more than the boat - tired or not. The trick is being able to sell all the parts with less effort than selling the boat.

And if you sell on Ebay, buyer comes to pick up or pays for packing and shipping.

If you decide to part it out, I'm looking for a trampoline. I am the new owner of a very old hobie. I believe it to be 1970 or earlier and I need a tramp as the old one is destroyed.

With the Aussie dollar currently at 60c to the US$, its probably cheap, even though the postage would be significant.

Well I estimated $1660, and I beat that, and I still have a trailer to sell. Might break $2000 if I am lucky. EVERYTHING sold. How good is that?
