When/where are they going to be this year?? I remember hearing something about Iowa??

Hmm.. He mentioned it to me before, but The drive was like 20 hours. I may make a long trip out of it and fly out to visit my grandfather and then do the race while I'm there. How far away from the event site is Clinton, Iowa??

Anyone have a boat to lend?? ...And, no thanks, Chris, I'll pass on "Cinderblock"...

Clear Lake is a four hour drive across Iowa from Clinton, waaay up there by Minnesota. I think Chris said Fleet 10's bidding for the 16 women's and youth nat's on the same dates.

I'm sure Chris would let you camp in his front yard

We're gonna search for 14's available around here, should be a blast.

I still can't find the 18 comptip, but I have a used older, shorter 16 comptip and a new longer style 16 comptip. I also have a new 14 comptip.

I figure as far as borrowing a boat, I could ship my sail, steering and equipment up there and have it shipped back after the race. My wife would be going so there is NO way I would be able to camp out. Lucky for Chris.

Computer says about 1,275 miles for you, Dan - that's right about 20 hours, depending on when you pass Chicago. (There are much better ways to get from I-95 to the PA Tpk than the DC beltway, so DC is not a problem.)

You'd pass about an hour south of me on I-80/90 (otherwise known as the Ohio Turnpike)

If you make it to Canadaigua, NY in late Sept. (580 miles), I can double stack your boat to IA for you. I don't know how you'd get it home, though.

Reaper- Clinton is 3.5 hours away from Clear lake (my wife is from Clinton and we make the trip a million times a year)
It is a bit of a drive, but we're not off the beaten path as we are on I-35, near I-90 and I-80. Zip is 50428 (mapquest it)
I don't know why you would be reject my beautiful 14. She is just a bit on the plump side, but she has a pretty face. Plus, where did you finish at Syracuse?? Oh yea, BEHIND me.
I am waiting to hear from Lori M on if she would like us to host a multi-class event, if so, that would effect when we do it. Like Eaton said, we're in the running for the 16 y and w, but if not, we'll do the 14s during Hurricane season in Oct. Try for 3, maybe 4 days of racing (to make it worth it for you travelers) Informal survey of our own Div sailors, we're looking at 15 boats from just our divison. It would be pretty kick ass to have 20 plus. I know a guy who has a pretty decent 14 he may charter that has a sail on it you may recognize (Prism) so if you fly out, check flights into Moline Ill, only 30 minutes from Clinton.

Well, keep me in mind--I think I could make it. I think I may have to fly into Chicago, rent a car and drive to the race and then drive to Clinton.

By the way, I learned how to tack--but you can't make your boat any lighter

Chicago is 2.5 hours from Clinton. I would really try Moline, but whatever works for you.
I wonder why my boat is so freakin' heavy. Maybe those styrofoam thingies inside are water logged. Pretty much pisses my off though.
I'll have to talk to the Heineken Rep out here so we can get a cool beer truck like 204 had.......

Sorry about that--couldn't resist. My boat picked up 10 pounds since Syracuse. Probably because it was sitting on the beach.

That beer truck was the best thing I've seen at a regatta. self-serve and it was close to the boats so you had beer while you were tinkering.

Can we have a 500lb division? Boat plus skipper. Then guys like chris and I can have some fun. Chris: Can you guys promise 20-25knots everyday? I found out I really need that. The other handicap system is: Year of the boat minus weight of the boat minus weight of the skipper minus age of the skipper = your number. Lowest gets a head start and next starts 20 seconds later etc.. etc.. My number is 1455. Do I start first?

Oh yea, Pat: Can't promise, but IF were in either June or Oct, pretty sure be on Nuclear Wind. We are, as Eaton pointed out, the10th windiest state in the Nation and our area in particular is home to the largest windfarms anywhere. At one point not far from here, you can see over 400 huge turbines constructed to harness the wind. Awesom Alternative power source and tours available!
The 18/20 NAs was really windy the first few days, then died off a bit. I am sure the wind will be good for the 14 guys. We had awesome wind all year long, BTW: I drove out to Syracuse for a floater..........

But we have good parties and a BEER TRUCK. Wonder what Wrinklies number would be? I will have to see when you have the event. How long a drive was it to Syracuse?
