The shop "within driving distance" has the 30115 Bob in stock but this is supposed to be intended for the wave.

The 30116 is listed as used for the Hobie 14 and 16 and there are some differences in installation if your mast has the "comp head".

I have a 1977 Hobie 14 and am wondering if the 30115 bob can be reasonaby fit on this boat or should I go through the hassle of finding someone who will special order and ship the 30116?

I am not sure the part numbers since I ordered through Hobie dealer in Germany, but there are apparently two versions of baby bob for H14, one for older single-wheel mast tops and one for newer two-wheel tops. I expected to get the latter but just got the former. I just needed to tighten a single screw and was done with installation :D

I ended up buying the 30115 bob float and it has instructions for installing in the different versions of the Hobie 14. Mine is a 1977 vintage and I had to drill and tap four holes which was fairly simple. For a little extra confidence (Im going to pull the boat/ trailer for 600 miles this weekend and intend to leave the bob installed), I epoxied (JB brand) in the screws and also put a 5/16 bolt though the center hole with some washers that over-lapped the stainless frame of the bob.

Ive still have never flipped the boat despite putting it through some torture in fairly high winds (came very close a few times). But I think my kids are going to have a great time on the boat so I got the bob just in case..
