Hey Y'all!!

If anyone needs to see pics of setups please email at [email protected]. I have all my setups saved so I can send them to you. Even the type of mainsheet system for maximum rake! I keep the new boat set up in the side yard so if anyone has a special request I can take a pic of it!!. Sail draft/cambers are also available.

Bob- I'm getting a 1983 Turbo 14 switched over to unirig mode for the 14 NA's in Clear Lake IA. Couple of quick questions for you.

1. I'm working on mast rake, at 48 to 49 inches, the rear of my mast base is rubbing on the rear of the cup, metal on metal, what can I do to fix this and keep rake further back.

2. I have a slot in bottom of the boom, about in the middle (front to back), is this for a boom vang, and what hardware do I need to attach to it? I'm planning on just a bungee with a hook, but not sure how to attach it to boom.

Are you coming to Clear Lake? We have 22 boats and counting.

How'd that mast rotator system work out. I feel lost without one after sailing on 18's and 20's. Trying to figure out how that would work with boom that moves up and down the track (I assume that the rope attaches to the boom to loosen or tighten)

I have to finish a few things on the boat and will email pics when I'm ready. I have all the upgraded stuff on board. My situation at work has changed and I will be attending the 14 Nationals this year barring of course a hurricane along the Florida Panhandle!

Bob - Someone told me to grind on the back of the mast cup until the cup and the mast base dont touch anymore. Is that a common solution to my problem?

Yes, grinding is the answer. I'll have mine done by this weekend and will send you pics. I'm concerned about the mast jumping out of the step cup and I believe I have the solution.

I ground the back of my cup down a little, but I did more on the mast base as well. It really chews up the mast puck, but if you are only using the puck for a few days of racing, you are OK.

Bob, I ran my rig VERY loose last year at the NAs in Delaware and I tied a string from the mast cleat to the front frame. I tied it tight enough to keep pressure on the mast to keep it in the cup, but loose enough for the mast to rotate. I found the secret was to run througn the middle hole in the cleat and tie each end to the crossbar on each side of the mast base. That let the mast rotate feely.

Maybe Matt should have check it out :twisted:

I also installed the rotator and I'm pretty pleased with it. Upwind the stock rotation was good, but downwind the sail looked like crap. I have a knot in it so that I can just yank on it going upwind and it goes to a preset location. Downwind, I let it all the way loose and I can pull on the rotator from the other side to over rotate the mast. It give a GREAT sail shape and I was passing or catching up to people down wind.

It was the tacking that did me in.
