Greetings -

Newbie on the board but a long time Hobie lover. I've got an old 14 foot Hobie that is "starting" to show it's wear. It's actually held up unbelievably well over the years and has been a great ride.

Last year, the seam along the port pontoon (under the lip) has separated for about a 4 foot long section. My main question is, given the type of stress that the pontoons take, let alone the age of the boat (probably 20+ years old), is the hull toast, or can it be repaired?

I've got one source saying to epoxy the thing back together, and another source saying to just caulk it with marine silicone caulk.

What's the opinion of the experts on the board?

Hola Tobasco, Would it be possible for you to take some digital photos of the seam and forward them to me? I think I have some repair photos of what you've described. email me at [email protected] Rick
