i just got my 1st hobie
its a 1981 18 when i rolled out the sail i found two small holes in the sail 3 inches on one and the other smaller than that kinda looks like a mouse found it
how do i patch this and what kind of ropes do i need to get for the rigging and where should i get themm from as most do look original and will need replaceing before it sees the water
it does look like i have more boat than i can handle but i am sure i will have fun learning how to use this rig
i do like the size tho as i go about 325 and dont plan on sailing alone
thank you for your help
paul

You can easily repair small holes in your sails with "sail repair tape" available from West Marine, Murray's, or many other sailing supply stores. Larger tears should be dealt with by a professional sail repair / manufacturing service.

You can also get new standing & running rigging from either the Hobie Cat company or from Murray's (www.murrays.com) or the Catsailor store ( http://store.catsailor.com which then seems to go back through Murray's). If you're going to replace the tramp lacing, there's no need to spend big bucks on some fancy line; I just use the $5 for 50' nylon rope from Wal-Mart and figure on replacing it in 2 years or so.

Good luck and welcome!
