Found the problem I was having with my jib on my Getaway. Seems there was a shackle that was supposed to be installed from the forestay to the mast that wasn't put in. This has explained several things:
1. Why it was so difficult to hook the forestay to the jib furler when stepping the mast.
2. Why the furler wasn't working properly (The forestay would not spin)
3. Why the luff tensioner tore to shreds after 3 sails.
4. Why the shrouds and the forestay never seemed to look right (work properly) when sailing.

Also had to remove the jib from the shackle at the clew and put a tensioner in there as well.
Put a shackle on and presto all things seems to be working.

Apart from having a jib that is chaffed quite a bit things are working much better now.
