Hey guys,
I have a few soft spots to fix on my new (used) 18. One is the classic soft spot on the hull deck directly in front of the front crossbar, but there's also 2 delam areas on the outside of the port hull. I've looked through all the "soft spot" posts, and noticed a few people say that the repair is different for delamination on the hulls, as opposed to on the top deck.
I had planned to simply remove the port hull and lay it on its side on some saw horses (possibly adding some wedges to keep the surface perfectly flat), then proceed as if I were fixing a spot on the deck (per matt's soft spot FAQ, etc.). Is there something I'm missing, or is the "extra step" just making the delaminated surface horizontal to aid the spreading of the epoxy?
Thanks in advance! By the way, this is a fantastic forum - you guys have helped me out more than you can possibly imagine in my Hobie adventures.
