I have a loose aft pylon. I can wiggle the pylon and push it in and out slightly - maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch. Additionally, there is a large crack on the aft/transom side of the pylon. 4 inches long and deep, all the way though.

I was going to open up the hull, but what would be the best spot to open it up. My wife suggest the inside-side of the hull for a hole. The patch it up. I was thinking of bow side on top, just adding another inspection hole.

What would folks suggest?

Thanks

I added a inspection port in front of the rear pylon.

Base of pylon was cracked. Took a week of laying new fiberglass
(once a night) to get everything repaired.

Sailed this weekend and everything is good.

I now have 4 inspection ports. One in front of each pylon. I put in 5 inch ports and each one has a bag for storage.

I turtled twice over the weekend and bags stayed dry.
