Hobie getaway cover advice

We are trying to choose a good cover for our 2012 getaway. It will be stored in upstate snowy ny over the winter, on a trailer. Please give any input that may be helpful We are deciding between these two....or do you highly suggest a different kind? Thanks for any help you can give!

Just something to consider since you mentioned snow - the combination of the forward and main trampolines presents a very large area for snow accumulation. This creates the potential for hull or trailer damage due to heavy loads if a lot of snow builds up. You might want to think about just removing the trampolines during winter, unless you plan to be vigilant about brushing off the snow after every storm.

Otherwise, I can’t really comment on the two specific covers you shared. I did purchase a boat cover from SLO a few years ago that is good quality and has held up well, so you might want to consider them as well.

If they are water proof, rainwater and snow melt will pool up on the tramps. It can get really heavy and damage them. I cut drain slits in the tarp I put over my boat to allow water to drain.
If storing outside in the winter, you can tent a tarp over the mast so snow will come off, or at least be easily removed.

My boat is stored in the winter with snowy conditions in New Hampshire.
As Bob said above, I also use the mast as a high point to support a tarp. I use the trailers front mast support to keep one end of the mast high, then I have built temporary rear and mid boat mast supports for the winter to hold up the center of the rest of the tarp.

I also unattached the seats so they don’t hold up the tarp at the outside of the boat.

The resulting tent is pretty good at shedding snow over the winter.
