Paddle

Sailing on Long Island Sound is a lot of fun but sometimes the wind dies at the end of the day. Most of my friend sailers have a paddle on board but having a Getaway with wings I needed a telescopic one. Any suggestions for a good place to attach one. I thought about under the rear crossbar or on the top of the front one.
I thougt about placing it under the wing but I read the post about flying the hull and the wings get submerged under the water.
Any ideas? Telescoping Paddle 20" to 3'9".

Hook under the wing. Under a few of the bungee laces. From front to back... that way it can't slide out if you dip the wing. It is unlikely the whole wing gets dunked. You hjave to be nearly 90 degrees to the water.

We have a collapsble paddle that I've secured on the underside of the back of one of the wing seats. I streached the elastic cord that holds the cover on the seat and slipped the handle under the cord, then use a short marine bungie to hold the paddle portion to the underside. Haven't submerged the seat flying a hull, but can't imagine it would be a big issue the way it is currently attached. Can send a picture if you'd like.

I have one of the collapsible paddles from the Hobie catalog - no boat hook. I simply store it in the pocket at the front of the tramp on both the Getaway and previously on my old Wave. Put the paddle in 1st, then the mainsheet. The paddle will have its top slightly behind the top of the crossbar. The mainsheet is easily removed and I've never had the paddle come out. Its out of the way but easily found when I need it.

As a point of information, I sail on Lake Michigan. When the wind is 15-20, the waves are 2'-3' and water breaks over the bows from time to time. The paddle always stays put.

I hope this helps.

I put it under the wing, works great. I tipped over, tried to right the boat three times slamming it back to the water- it is still there where I put it.

I keep "them" in a waterproof bag that I alway have with me. Actually I have 2 of them as I never go out alone. For $30 why not have the crew paddle a little bit?
