Hello all.. Thanx for all the useful advice I have received thus far from this forum. I am planning on storing my Getaway at our lake house and would like to do so mast up on the shoreline. Our shoreline has about 3 feet of rip-rap (stone) at the edge and I was just thinking of building two sleds that would be fixed on shore and extend into the water. I can think of many ways to design and build this but was just looking for some helpful forum members that have built similar as knowing the design and materials will hold up would be helpful. I was thinking almost like a ladder for each pontoon will rolling rungs if that makes sense. Fixed on the shoreline and then extends over the rocks into the water. Water level is pretty well regulated and stays within a 12-18 inches of full pond.
Goals are to
1)make as solid as possible so mast is not swaying with waves
2)relatively inexpensive
3)relatively simple construction
I have provided a 'rough' sketch at the following link.
my questions currently are:
Anyone built something similar or have a better design?
What materials would be best sides of ladder? pressure treated wood?
What about cross links? wood dowels or maybe PVC with galvinezed pipe inside.
what is the best way to minimize wear and tear with waves and water level changes at the point the 'ladder' fixes to the shoreline?
Any and all suggestions welcome.
