Looking for a jib for my Getaway. I sold the H16 jib I've been using (without the battens) and need like to replace it before sailing season.

Are aftermarket jibs worth it or should I just spend the $$ and order one from Hobie?

Thanks,

Bill in NH

After 16 years of sailing my getaway I finally replaced my jib. Got the standard turquoise jib from hobie and am VERY happy with it. It's given the boat a new lease of life and looks good too.

If you race at all, you'll need the stock Hobie. But if you just have fun the aftermarket will perform pretty much like the stock. There's not much magic in a jib with defined head, tack and sheet points. Lengths are defined, fabric is dacron, camber is pretty much gonna be 10%....check your forestay while you are doing this; you might want a new one.
