I'm looking to buy my first boat, a used 2006 Getaway for 3,900. Looks in very good condition with the exception of cracks in one of the hulls around the rear crossbeam. The previous owner says he filled the cracks with an epoxy calk. A shop that works with rotomolded hulls tells me the repair could be better if calk is removed and cracks filled with a combination of G-flex and glass.
A few questions:
How common are cracks like this in this location? How serious are they from a structural standpoint? Does the G-flex/glass combo sound like a fix? And the boat does not currently have wing seats, but I would want to add them. Might that exacerbate the problem?
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!
