2022 Getaway

Setup and sailed successfully when new. But wondering if I’ve lost a part. Manual says to “check and tension the shackle at the lower forestay to adjuster connection” after pinning the adjuster to the furler drum, but the illustration doesn’t seem to show a shackle. And if I had one it’s no longer around. As I left it breaking down in ‘22 the adjuster was pinned to the furler drum.

Also unsure what needs to happen with the grommet at the jib tack. Trying to research this I’ve seen examples of it being tensioned with line looped through a shackle on the forestay adjuster. But no mention of this in the manual. And certainly no memory or evidence of doing it that way before. No line or hardware in the grommet now.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Trying to answer my own question or just clarify.

The official Hobie Getaway rigging video on YouTube (14 years old) seems to show a simple pin through the connection to the forestay. Not a shackle.

But a shackle through the forestay adjuster (through a lower hole)that indeed has line looped through it to tension the jib.

No mention of jib tensioning at the tack grommet in the 2022 manual.

Sort of feel like I’ve seen setups without the line looped through the grommet.

I'm still super new - but when we rigged last weekend - we noticed the same thing - nothing to keep tension on the jib downwards towards the forestay

The guy who sailed hobies before told us to get some small rope , loop it through the ring on the jib , and connect it to the forestay adjuster up front - and its what we did

I'm going to get a better set up soon, but that's what we did in the meantime
