2 pointer question for y'all:

- I am heading up to New England this summer to visit family, I'll be in the New London/Providence/Newport area. Does any one know of Getaways for rent in East Ct./ Rhode Island area? I am thinking a Getaway so that more of my family can come with.

All that inland bay area between Providence and Newport looks pretty inviting to me.

- I own a WAVE, I am very comfortable sailing her, and I am assuming the Getaway should be similar handling and sailing. Is this correct? Are there issues with a Getaway versus a WAVE that I should know about before heading out?

I don't want to embarass myself or toss my family in the drink.

Enlightenment would be appreciated.

As long as you show a little respect for the getaway as it has more sail to play with, it will pitch-poll much easier than the wave. But all in all you shouldn't have a problem as long as the wind is 15 or less.

Don't know of anywhere to rent one. Keep in touch, I'm in Waterford (next town over from New London, and would be happy to take you out for a cruise if timing works out.
Are you originally from around here?

I don't know of anywhere to rent one...but I live in Warwick, RI....we sail DAILY in the exact area you mention...Narragansett Bay....we often sail from Warwick...down to Newport and back its about a 20 mile trip...or other days we just sail around Warwick...we like the southern part of the bay a lot more though..wind is more constant between Jamestown and Narragansett...and the water much cleaner and clearer....

Often we sail around 4-8pm when the wind is up...a nice after work sail...we live about 3 mi from the launching ramp so its real nice for an after work quicky.

also theres the RI Hobie fleet 448 which is very active in the area...we sail with the often.

Yes, to being from Connecticut. I was born in Norwalk, went to school in Newtown thru middle school, then my parents divorced and I enjoyed High School in Florida. Now, I live in Southern California.

We are tentatively trying to set up a sailing day the Monday directly after the 4th of July (July 7).

My son, Greg (23), his girlfriend (25), my (2) cousins(50 and 56) and myself (50). All good people.

My son is already hooked on sailing and I am trying to get my cousin hooked, as well. He lives in Florida and is fairly high up the food chain at the Sierra Club.

Would love to take you up on your offer, Bri, if it can work out. You can see more about Greg and I at http://myspace/zzcoreyzz

I don't want to post my email here as I have been painstakingly keeping it spam free.
