Trapese jib and spiniker optoins H. Wave

Hello All,
I have just joined the group and I would like to ask a few questions. First some back ground. I have been sailing on dingys and 11m cruisers for +/-10 years. A couple of years ago I built my own 5m catamaran. She has been great fun but she is a heavey boat with limited performance so I am now thinking of buying a Wave. I like the idea that I can start with the basic model and later extend it to include a jib, trapese and spiniker. Does anyone have any experience with these options? I will be sailing mainly solo but on occaisional trips I will take one crew.

I dont think the Wave is something I would consider "performance". Dont let me discourage you from buying one, but they are mainly recreational with only a few strings to pull. The simplicity of Wave sailing is nice however, its liberating - you dont require a crew in any amount of wind, but you can take passengers, its not "performance oriented" but it will be faster than any old leadmine (monohull).

I may have given you the wrong impression with regard to my performance expectations. My cat weighs approx 175Kg and is very slow and difficult to tack. However being a cat still quick in a straight line. The wave at 114Kg will be much easier to handle on the water and on land, I've seen she tacks easily, and she looks a fun boat to sail solo. I don't have any race ambitions and I'm not looking for a cat like the A-Cat. Adding the jib, trapese and/or spiniker give the opportunity to extend the boat as my skills improve and it will provide more interesting sailing on the occaisions I take crew. The wave looks an easy boat to set up as well. What is the time required to assemble the hulls and launch?

If you use the search function on this forum, there are a number of good threads on the jib, trap, and spin setups that probably say it all.

The only one of the three that I might be interested in is the spin. However, if I will be spending some $, there are some interesting main sail options that I am thinking will add to performance...

My routine (and I've done it pushing 200 times, now):

- Load Wave on and in car
20 minutes
- Remove and assemble on beach
20 minutes
- Dissasemble, rinse and put back on/in car
30 minutes
- Remove and store in garage
10 minutes

These times are approximate depending on how motivated and/or distracted I am at the time (wink wink)
