Screws that hold bridle to bows

What exactly holds the screws at the bows? Is there a metal backing inside the hull that could possibly fall out if I completely unscrew and remove the eyestrap the bridle is connected to?

The problem is that these screws are becoming loose rapidly and I have to re-tighten each time I sail. I just wanted to take the screws out and loctite them.

The screws thread into a fitting that could be Aluminum, Stainless or Bronze (current) that is molded into the hull. If backing out... I assume the boat is newer. We suggest blue loc-tite.

Thanks Matt. Yes, its a '08 and did not have any loctite.

Apparently the screws pulled out of my boat before I got it and Brad at Sunjammers had a pretty ingenious way of fixing it. Contact him for details, I like the way he did it alot and have no fear of it coming apart again.

The screws arent pulling out, they are coming unscrewed - I assume from a lack of loctite and a lot of bouncing around on both trailer and water. I just retighten with a screwdriver each time I take her out.

I've had the same issue with my '07. Not a great feeling when you have to stop on the water after 2 hours of sailing just to make sure the screws aren't too loose . I went by to see my dealer late last summer and he advised me to put some loctite.

I also have an '08 and there was no licktite on mine either, even though the instructions say to add locktite and a small tube of blue locktite comes with the Wave kit.

Don't take a chance of getting hurt. Keep that screwdriver handy and check the screws each time BEFORE You hit the water. I check each and every screw, fitting and cable before heading for the pier and everyone else should too. Just passing on advise that was given to me.

I just picked up a 98 wave and although the bow screws are nice and tight i do notice a few small cracks near the screws. Just how big are blocks in the bow? I used some silicone to fill the cracks to keep water from entering an oxidizing what ever material is in there. Since the boat is older the plastic is a bit dry. Has anyone ever seen a failure at the bow hook?
