Righting line for a wave?

High winds off Killbear park, sitting as far back as the tiller would allow and well hikedwhen the wet hull hit a wave, buried to the crossbar and cartwheeled the boat, literally. I had to swim around and untie the mainsheet and use it as a righting line ... is this what everyone does or do people rig a separate line?

I guess the Wave won't flip easily but I have read in other posts about the pitching issue so wondering if a dedicated righting line might be more convenient?

New Waves come with a thick white & blue rope which is to be tied to the sides of the front crossbar (by where it enters the hull). It's long enough to throw over the upper hull and give you a pull-loop to right it. But you may be able to right it just by grabbing the tramp lacing and leaning back.

The real key is getting the bow pointed into the wind, so the sail helps you.

Then you have to scamble back on board, before the boat takes off again!

My wave (2008) came with a yellow righting line. I tie it around the mast base, the rest I put in the trampoline pocket.
