I've got a 1998 Wave, and I've purchased an EZ Loc tiller crossbar with EZ Loc fittings to convert over from my old black rubber elbows. This should be easy enough to accomplish.

I'd also like to shorten my tiller arms, and get my tiller crossbar farther aft, behind the main sheet blocks like it is on the newer Waves. My tiller arms are the ones that angle in toward the center of the boat. They are not straight like the EZ Loc tiller arms are.

Can I just shorten my tiller arms and move the crossbar back, or will I be messing up the geometry somehow if I do this?
I realize that moving the crossbar back with tillers arms that angle in would change my rudder toe in, but I plan to cut the tiller arms first, and then cut the crossbar to the correct length to set the toe in. Will this work?

Can someone also please tell me how long the EZ Loc tiller arms are?

Thanks, Jim

Just place the crossbar a little aft of the mainsheet...when the rudders are up. The EZ lock housing is completely different, so you can't compare the tiller arm length.
