Keep in mind that the old style rudders allow you to adjust the rake of the rudder, but the newer EZ Loc version rudders have no adjustment for rake. I like the old style rudders for this reason.
I have a 1998 Wave that I restored to like new condition. I feel like I have the best of both worlds now.... a like new boat with the old style rudders. I also prefer the color schemes on a lot of the older sails, but that's a personal preference thing.
It's not that hard to restore one of these boats to like new condition. You can have a "like new" Wave for 1/2 the cost of a new one.
Something to keep in mind......
Probably the biggest difference is the two trampoline styles. The "classic" tramp is designed for quick disassembly for cartop transportation, but you can't get it as tight as a "club" tramp. I came up with a fix for that though:
