Any way we can get a hand on the technical drawing for the Wave backrest kit?

Would like to buy it from a dealer but seem the be BO for a while and not sure if this will be in production again. Decided to build my own locally.

Thanks

JF

The Wave backrests are not going to be built by Hobie. All sailboat production was moved to Starting Line Sailing (ZIM Sailing). This item had become unavailable years ago due to a loss of the vendor who used to bend the tubing. There is no drawing available.

I need approx measurements to be able to reverse engineering a drawing. I will validate critical measurements on my own Wave to ensure perfect assembly. Pictures on different angles might help as well for sure.

Thanks

Hey JF...just wondering if you ever got the info you were chasing for the backrests? I'm curious about making a set for myself too, given I can't find any locally.

I did not get anything unfortunately. I put the project on hold for now. If ever I dive into it I will share what I found with pleasure.

New to the forum, but I have made my own backrests for my Wave after cancelling a 2 year back-order from the dealer, and thought I'd share with anyone still interested.
Not having seen a set IRL, I relied on web images and some general dimensions found on this forum to design them.
I altered the stock endcaps and filled them with casting resin to receive 1-5/8" aluminum scaffolding tubes. I then used commercially available fittings and a few homemade items vs. having tubes bent. I implemented a suggestion from a similar post on this forum, and made mine adjust like a lounge chair. They adjust from 0 to 45 degrees. Also used large urethane pipe insulation for pads and had a local upholstery shop make Sunbrella covers. All told I've got @$600 and about 8 hours of work invested (not including design time).
I've used the backrests for a full season and believe they function equal to, or better than, the discontinued originals.
The tubing/fitting source I contacted precut the tubes to order (reducing shipping costs and labor), leaving just some minor fabrication and a few holes to drill and tap.
I'd be more than willing to provide his contact info, along with an order sheet and detailed instructions of everything needed to replicate my effort.
I'll post a link when I get some suitable images uploaded.
