Threaded holes on side of the hulls

I am curious about the pair of threaded holes, about half way back on the outside of each hull. Are those for mounting the backrests or the spinnaker hardware, or ...? Are they at a structurally strong point? I was thinking that a loop or an eye there might come in handy for attaching the halyard when tensioning the shrouds. I know any hardware there should be low-profile, to prevent injury while sliding on or off the deck. Any other creative uses out there?

Ideas for things to attach:

- fishing outrigger

- slingshot to pelt others with water balloons

- scuttling valves to sink the boat in case you are caught smuggling

- waterski rope attachment point

- arch for radome, antenna, and those obnoxious stereo speakers

Any more ideas?

Hmmmm....now waterskiing behind a Wave, like it!

I think those threaded inserts (note they are on both sides of each hull) are intended to mount the jib blocks. The backrests do not require them. If I could figure out how to insert a pic here, I could show you those anyway.

Wait, here is another thought...use those as attachment points for a tow bridle to rescue those monohulls that can't handle real wind!

2007 Hobie Wave

the jib cleats are mounted using the 2 larger screw that hold the tramp track on

Spin harware is attached on the front cross bar and rear tramp lacing

I think those holes on the outboard side are used in production.

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a port and starboard mold for the Wave. The only thing that delineates which side the hull goes on is which side the decals grt put on. Those "holes" on the "outside" of the hull match up with holes on the "inside" of the hull. They'd be for jib cleats (as Brad pointed out).
