I will be heading to Hawaii and based TDY out of HNL for Oct and Nov. and will be looking to do some fishing. Trying to decide if its possible to ship one of my kayaks out there. Although I know you can check white water kayaks, but need to see if I can check a fishing kayak for a flight to HI. The other option is to rent a kayak while there. Any suggestions on rental spots?

How is the fishing around Honolulu or would you suggest fishing on some of the other islands. Then again if I'm there for a couple months I hope to hits several spots.

Thanks

I can't speak for the fishing on the islands (haven't done it yet), nor the kayaking around Oahu (ditto), but I *have* rented a yak down by Captain Cook on the western side of the Big Island and can tell you it was spectacular! They don't have Hobie yaks there at the Capt. Cook rental location (or at least didn't when we were there in March of last year) but they are sit-on-top yaks. $50 for the entire day as I recall.

The Capt. Cook experience was all it took for us - as soon as we got back stateside we began to look at buying our own yaks.

Check out http://forum.aquahunters.com for Hawaii kayak fishing. If you're going to be on Maui in Nov. email me, I may be able to help.
