H.O.W. Benefit / OEX Salt Water Bass Kayak Tournament was held on May 03, 2014 with 102+ SoCal kayak anglers out on the scene at Mission Bay SD.
Kayak Anglers were targeting the aggressive Spotted Bay Bass, Calico Bass & Sand Bass in an ‘artificials only’ format. Water clarity was fair, although suspended seagrass cluttered the upper water column more than usual. Hitide filled in right around the final weigh in, so most bass had to be nabbed earlier. I broke off a huge Spotty on a piling , but still managed to score a six place finish overall. Baits of choice were my Z-Man Chatterbaits with Paddlerz, Palmetto BugZ & DieZel MinnowZ trailers in Pinfish, Houdini, Pearl Blue Glimmer & Pearl, 1/2 oz. - 3/4 oz. sardine skirted weedless swimjigs coated in UniButter.
