HOBIE TEAM MEMBERS WIN IN BCKFC 2009 TOURNMENT SERIES
Hobie Regional Fishing Team member Brendan (Choupique) Bayard won first place in the Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club’s 2009 Tournament Series. Bayard, who lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, fished all five series events and had an amazing three 1st place and one 2nd place wins. For winning the series, Bayard was named the BCKFC Angler of the Year for 2009.
Also winning in the series was Hobie Local Fishing Team member Chris (Where Y’ak?) Holmes. Holmes fished four of the five series events and finished the series in third place. Holmes lives in Chalmette, Louisiana and is sponsored on the local Hobie Fishing Team by Massey’s Outfitters in New Orleans.
The tournament series consisted of a variety of one-day, salt-water fishing contests for various species and was held at different locations across south Louisiana. While the individual tournaments are open to public entry, only BCKFC members can earn series points. Tournament entrants were awarded points for participation and placing in the five-event series. Additional top-five Tournament Series winners were 2nd place, Jason (Cajun Caster) Powers, 4th place, Mitchell (Koda) Labbie and 5th place, Mel Landry.
In addition to the Angler of the Year award, Bayard also received a new kayak, courtesy of series sponsor, Pack & Paddle in Lafayette, Louisiana. Second through 5th place winners were awarded cash prizes.
