best hobie for fast moving rivers

Hi all im about to get into kayak fishing and was wondering which kayak would be best for my kind of fishing
i fish in the Tumut river Australia n.s.whttp://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=Tumut+river&ll=-35.368895,148.277836&spn=0.131161,0.264187&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&hnear=Tumut+River&t=h&z=13&vpsrc=6 which when low has slower deeper moving part but also has faster moving parts not white
water. I also fish in a large dam Blowning dam im looking at the rev 11 or the sport which i like but just worried about my weight im 172cm tall 87kg + 4-6kg gear which is near the max of the kayak
i also like the revo 11 but a bit worry it would not handle the faster moving water as well harder to steer when puddling i no the mirage drive need deeper water but was not going to used on river unless water was deep.
so will the sport do the job or do i get the rev 11 and will it be able to handle the faster moving water

Great pics - Tumut is now a place I must go. I've had experience with the upper Murray and due to the shallow nature I would rather use a canoe in these conditions. You need knee deep minimum depth to efficiently use the Mirage drive on the Hobies. If you fish and were going to use the boat in the lakes around Tumit and occasionly hit the rivers you may find the Revo ideal without the drive in the rivers.
Come down to Jervis bay and try them all out on The Big Day Out Feb 11-12

The Revo 11 would be fine for a river like that. In fact, leave the rudder down for straight tracking on long, calm stretches, and retract it in fast water to turn the Revo into a quick turning machine via paddle.

Thanks i thinking im going to go with the quest 11 with a rudder as this is my first kayak and i do most of my fishing when the river is low and can,t see the point on the mirage drive can still fish the dam with the quest as well. Going to spend the saving on new fishing gear a new fly rod for starter tried fly fishing for the first time last year as well as a new rod and reel and If i got the money later on will be getting a rev 11 or outback to do dams and larger river next year.

davew best to find out the water being released from Blowering as the river is at it best when it lower at the moment it running a banker and the flow is very fast.

If you go with the quest, you won't really need a rudder. Certainly not on a river such as pictured above.

Rudders aren't used for turning/steering on a paddle yak. When used, they're more apt to be set to counter crosswinds, current, etc. Turning/steering is done with your paddle.

The Mirage Drive kayaks require a rudder, even when paddled, as they lack sufficient keel depth at the rear to provide decent tracking.
