For my PA-14, 2 7/8" OD, schedule 40 PVC x 7.5' long, cross supports 67" on center, pipe separation approximately 11.5" apart center to center.
If you invert your PA upside down on the ground and lay the PVC into the twin hull slots, you can get an exact measurement of the center to center pipe spacing.
I drilled a 3/8" diameter hole in the pipe and used 1/4 x 20 SS bolts with a fender washer under the bolt head, inside the pipe so there is room for slack/movement because the PVC will "sag" under the weight of the hull and conform to the shape of the hull.
You can "preform" the fender washers to take the inside diameter shape of the pipe.
Make sure you use 1/4 x 20 Nyloc nuts on the bolts so nothing comes apart while on the road.
Thanks Dr.SteelheadCatcher!!! That was exactly the information I needed!
