Does anyone transport their fishing rods in the molded-in rod holders while trailering their kayak? Just wondering if this is safe (not worried about theft). Thanks!

I just realized which rod holders you were referring to...lol. I was thinking the rod tubes in the Pro Angler. I would not use the molded in rod holders to transport rods on the road for any distance.

Thanks. Sorry if I wasn't very clear. I suppose there's too much chance of the rods bouncing out of the holders.

If you had extender tubes and set it up so you could could leash them down with say short bungies hooked over reel stem you could. I always feel rods transported this way, even on trailer boats are vulnerable to catching on something.

I had a rod pop out on the water two weeks ago !!! I was always concerned about the angle. Now I use them for my net only while on the water. I attached two home made PVC holders to the milk crate I stage behind my seat. I put a slit in each that the reel stem sits in. I can bungee them if launching from the beach. Much safer IMHO.
