Hi all .
I am a mad keen Aussie based Yakfisher who will be lucky enough to be visiting Florida first week or so of December 17 with my family and then working our way north to New York for Christmas .

I have done a fair bit of internet searching and will most likely book a 1 day Charter with Deep Blue Kayak fishing or Pushin Water for some offshore action weather gods permitting .Will be flying into Fort Lauderdale directly from Dubai and will book some accommodation around Boynton beach or Delray beach for a couple of days
.
So I am looking for some recommendations on where to visit for a keen yakangler so far as stores ,outfitters etc and what you guys would recommend to do with the family in Florida (two sons 16 and 19) .
Any ideas to visit that would be of particular of interest to a yakangler heading north would also be appreciated although my brownie points will have been blown in Florida I expect .

First time in the USA and super keen to check out the yakfishing scene !
Cheers and thanks in advance
Brendon

December is middle of winter here, the water is only in the 60's that far north (ft lauderdale area), too cold for us natives, you need drysuits IMO.
If your going for big game fish, head down to Islamadora area and jump on a charter, the game fishing grounds are too far out to be practical for yak fishing. (I'm only talking big game fish here, if that's your interest)
The further south you go in the keys the water gets warmer.
We have a souped up TI with massive sailsets and big ole twin outboards that's been hardened for offshore, and even with that going that far out is a no no (too dangerous). We have a place in Key West (further south), and mostly just go there (where the water is warmer that time of year)
We don't line fish or kayak fish at all, we are divers and snorklers and prefer to spear fish instead ( where we can pick from the menu (lol)). We are mostly on the other coast and the keys, I don't know much about that area so don't listen to me. My brother lives in that area (Port st Lucie), and doesn't go out in the winter.

Hopefully someone from that area will chime in with better advise.
