On previous post I asked about getting a micro-pole or a trolling motor. I decided on a the Micro-Power Pole and picked one up yesterday. However before installing I found something on internet called Bernies River Stick. Its basically the same idea as the micro-power pole but mechanically operated.

I ordered the River Stick today and will be returning the micro-pole. As I see it the River Stick has several advantages:

Big weight savings 6 lbs (including pole) vs 11.5 lbs (not sure if includes pole)
Cost: The River Stick with PA12/14 adapter plate is $329(no tax), includes pole. The Micro-pole (595) with lithium battery (199), PA adapter plate (83), and pole (99) is over $1,000 with tax........
River Stick has unlimited deployments, Micro-pole about 100 with Lithium battery

The Micro-pole may be smoother and easier to operate but at the weight and cost savings along with unlimited deployments I think the River Stick will suit my needs better.

Once I get installed and on water I will write review of it.
