Can you still get it for that? If so, buy a ton of it and bring it to the Lawrence KS regatta in April, otherwise, I'll be in OP on business next month!

I doubt it. The place we bought it at (Karsh's) went out of business. That and I no longer live in Rolla, MO.

Where do you sail in KS? You should make sure to make it to the regatta in Lawrence though, its really great. Do you ever eat at the Other Place in Olathe? Thats my favorite place to go in Clear Lake, best pizza in the world. My company is in OP and I get there a couple times a year for compliance and hit the hotspots in KC, there are some really good places to go out down there.

I sail at Clinton. I'll be at the regatta for sure. It will be my first one. Just look for the guy who has no clue what he's doing. That's me.

I'll have to check out The Other Place. It's pretty close by. We're always looking for new places to try.

May we start referring to "the regatta" by it's name, Frayed Knot?
Although...THE regatta may have been an excellent choice!

Ya Chris, Jeff is hooked. We had to take him from the lake to the hospital (after a collision with an 18SX daggerboard) and he's still coming back for more :D

Pizza- Their Four Star is the best and their Hawiian is 2nd best

Chili Gumbo- I HATE black olives, but gladly eat them in this. Trust me, its friggin awesome.

Lasagne- Get the large.

Sorry, Johnny, The 'Frayd Knot' Regatta. I like the 'Slipknot' regatta name a little better, but not everyone has the same taste in music as me I guess!

Hi,

I have been reveiwing my boat's documentation and I have just hung up the phone from talking with U.S.Customs.

U.S.Customs, for private citizens exiting or entering, is more concerned where (the item in question) was most recently(origon) and will it be returning to the USA. They are looking for Illegal imports/exports is the drift I got. Off course they say "just show up, there'll be no problems"

I do not have the origonal Bill of Sale for my boat but I do know which dealer sold the boat and they are still in business, I have contacted them. They have located the origonal paperwork for the sale of my boat and we are currently working on generating/producing a "Certificate of Origon".

On my insurance papers ( Certificate of Insurance) that I use to give to the race organizers for registration there is a policy number, but NO hull serial numbers listed. I have contacted my agent as I had to give those serial numbers to intially get the insurance, and he is providing expanded "policy documentation" that has those serial numbers listed to attach to the Certificate of Insurance.

The U.S.Customs has a "registration" form that can be filled out and the agents will verify the items listed are "as such" and sign/stamp it before you exit the USA. Upon returning you produce/show this signed/stamped form to the U.S.Customs agent. This is also proof that the items in question were previously in the USA. This form is used mostly for items like cameras, video equipment , high$$$ items ... etc that their point of origon could be questioned.

As a back-up the gentleman at U.S.Customs said to take your "rig" and park it in front of your local Post Office and take a picture. Be sure to include the front of the Post Office with its identification (address and zip code) and the "Stars & Stripes" flying proudly, visible in the picture. This can be used as proof that the vechicle/vessel was in/from the USA.

So if anyone knows where the closest Post Office is too the border crossing, I'll meet you there for a photo shoot ...

Sail Flat, Sail Fast
Harry

So, how does the US Customs handle a case where your boat is only one of many on the "MRTT"? (Div11 Monster Road Trip Trailer). It looks like Div 11 will have up to 8 boats, each from a different owner, with multiple state documentations and only one or two owners in the tow rig. I’d plan to spend some time at the boarder. And with a sort turnaround to get back for the North American’s in Iowa you won’t be able to afford a delay at the board. Good Luck.

I imagine that there are others who have multiple boat trailers and are sharing a ride who would be interested to know a solution.

i like harry's idea of having the trailer photo documented in front of a US Gov't Building. An extension of that would be to have an official in that building confirm ser #'s of each boat on the trailer and sign/stamp the document.
Then, when you get ready to cross the border into Canada, approach the US Customs first, show them the documentation, and have them stamp it. give them an aticipated date/time of return and make it through the same crossing.
As i mentioned earlier, your choices for crossing are Oroville/Osoyoos on Hwy 97 or Sumas/ Abbotsford.
The oroville might be easier because it is a quieter border crossing.
Make sure you bring race documents as well.. NOR, Registration etc.

What if we (the US) just bought Canada and called it Northern Minnesota. Then, we could just go there no problem. It just an idea......
