outhaul rig

I noticed from a few pictures of the 16 N.A. that the outhaul has a loop hanging down.Does anyone have a picture of the new set up.

What pictures are you looking at, Mike?

There wasn't anything new at NA's. Some people tie a loop in the end to use up the extra line and/or provide a "handle" to yank on.

Does anyone actually adjust the outhaul on the 16? It's not a loose-footed sail, I can't imagine a need to adjust it after you set it.

I set mine and then tie it up so I don't get caught on it tacking.

I got my trap-hook caught on the shroud racing a 17 last year - it made me drop the mainsheet, which was still cleated...and the boat slowly came over on top of me On the plus side, I have enough weight to right a 17 in medium air!

That's just excess line that 'Quique tied up out of the way so it wouldn't get pulled into the mainsheet blocks.
