Got the Hotline in the mail yesterday and was suprised to see Wessels mentioned us in the NCAC article [thanks Chris

] Then I thought about how right (and important) the
us was. My oldest son Paul is my crew and without his being on the boat, half of the team, no way we'd get a mention in the Hotline. I get to drive and concentrate on boat speed and pretty much EVERYTHING else is his call. We collaborate on decisions and occasionally I overule (more of a gut feel and NOT always right

) but calling out the laylines, traffic, timing, course strategy, downwind flow, are all his decisions. Maybe that responsibilty has kept him interested enough to not want to helm his own boat? All the bells and whistles alone on the front end of a 20 are enough to keep a crew VERY busy.
There were some interesting and inspiring crews, in the 20 class, who showed up at the NCAC's. Who, in their right mind, would go to a regatta with morning temps at freezing and below when you don't even get to drive? It cant be that much fun to ride on a 20.
Make sure the crew's Christmas list is fulfilled!!
What about your crew?
