Has anyone sailed a 21SE without the jib ?

How does it work ? Does it have a lot of weather helm ?

Thanks

I've only sailed one once without using the jib. It was in preparation for a Prosail race weekend on San Francisco bay. Wind was over 30 knots, and we had to go downwind a few miles to where the boats were kept over the weekend. I was only able to use the back couple of feet of the Main, but we sailed into the lee of Alcatraz to jibe. I didn't really want to do it, but we needed to get the boat to where they locked them in for the weekend races. It was surprisingly controllable, but I didn't have to go upwind much.

I think if you can keep your momentum through a tack, and not let the rudders flop around in the process that it wouldn't be too bad.

The boat is so stable that it's not bad at all to singlehand it using the Jib. I would only use the main alone in survival conditions.

No more weather helm that I noticed. Hard to tack though. Real hard to tack without the jib... Use it, even solo.
