When I purchased my iTrek 9 my dealer said it had no serial number and didn't put one on my sales receipt, and when I tried to register the warranty with Hobie, i couldn't get through without a number so I searched with a light every inch of the hull and finally found it near the rudder. I tried to register the boat at our state MV but they insisted I needed an MSO (manufacturer's statement of origin). So I called my dealer and they claimed there is no MSO for the iTrek 9. I was able to get an MSO for even my paddle board so I don't understand how there is no MSO for a $2200 boat. The Bixpy is a puny motor but could be very helpful if I get tired pedaling and want to take a break. When I was buying the iTrek 9 the dealer was eager to sell me a Bixpy (I ordered elsewhere)- I wonder if he was aware I couldn't get an MSO. I don't know how to contact Hobie directly to determine this. If this is the case, it is a big minus for the iTrek 9 and for Hobie customer service (at least from this dealer).

Dealers have access to MSOs to download on a dealer website portal. If they can not get it from there, they would contact the sales department. You could email: [email protected] to pursue it.

Thanks Matt!

I contacted Hobie as my dealer had concluded that the iTrek 9 doesn't have an MSO. I don't see how that is possible as the iTrek is a real boat and I purchased it from an authorized dealer.
I hope to hear back from Hobie soon.

Hobie contacted the dealer and it looks like everything is going to be taken care of. Glad to see the good support from Hobie, I can understand how difficult it was to find the serial number on this kayak, that probably led to the confusion for the dealer.
