I just purchased my i11s and am thinking of the odd time I want to bring my dog on with me.

One thing I am considering is finding some extra SUP grip padding to put over the front of the board to give the dog more grip and add a layer of protection for the material.

Any general thoughts, ideas? Am I crazy for considering having my dog join me now and again?

I bought this for fishing mainly and will be solo 95% of the time but who knows.

That's a pretty small area. Depends on the size of your dog, Extra weight in the nose may make a wet ride for your dog. You could make a small platform and bungee it on the front D rings if the dog is small and likes water. I wouldn't try it in rough water or wind/chop. Good luck! 8)
