Hobie Islands are perfect for Corpus Christi where there are steady winds and a wide variety of areas to explore, from shallow lagoons to the Gulf of Mexico. I'm starting this thread for posting pictures from trips in the region.
In celebration of a visit from my friend from Taiwan, Vanson, we took out the TI on Corpus Christi Bay.
We sailed from the old boat ramp just past Texas A&M to Shamrock Island Preserve, the shipping channel spoil islands, some oil platforms, and back. The distance as the crow flies is 25 miles. The wind started below 10kt, but built to a steady 10-15kt. This made for great conditions, as the waves didn't have time to build too much. Our speed was generally between 5 and 7kt.
Here's some pics and video from the trip

When it starts getting cooler, a Sprayskirt could keep most of that spray out of the tramp/cockpit area, until the chop gets bad. The spray probably feels good right now.

Thanks daft. The water in CC bay is above 70F from april to mid november, and above 80F from may to mid october according the NOAA observation station. I haven't taken the TI out in the winter yet, but perhaps I'll throw on a wetsuit and give it a go this year.
Ya know Bob, I think that the boat came with the spray skirts when I bought it last september. I'll have to find them and give 'em a go. I think that I may get too hot in the Texas sun if I attach the spray skirts
I am thinking about coming down with my 2015 TI the weekend of October 8th from north Texas. I'd like to sail and fish. Never been down there. Any advice? Where to launch? Where to go? Anyone else want to join up?
