I recently used a paddle which was approximately 20 cm (8 inches) shorter than the paddle which came stock with my AI. I think the one I used is 210 cm, I think the stock AI paddle must be 230 cm.

I am used to a shorter paddle for a kayak like this and also liked that I was banging the paddle on the Aka's a lot less.

I'm thinking of cutting the paddle shaft on the side with the holes by 20cm, drilling a single new hole for the locking spring registration pin. There is a plug in the shaft to make it float - I think I could just push it further up the shaft.

Seems I should have no surprises if I do this???

I think its a carbon composite, so be careful with cutting and drilling it!
