Wilsons Prom expedition:

Day 1: launch at the beach at the main camping area, set sail sth east towards lighthouse. Sail around the point and up to Lt Waterloo. Camp for night.

Day 2: Sail up to Refuge Cove, camp there.

Day 3: Sail up to Sealers cover and camp there. Day 4: Sail up to 5 mile beach, camp there.

Then make your back, stopping at the same places. Glorious!

Thanks all for the advise. I will be taking all appropriate saftey measures. Just to let you know, when I say crew, I am talking about my wife and daughter. I will be getting a TI with tramp in Sep (I hope) :!: :?:

Hi Guys,

Thanks for taking an interested.
1st sail - picked up the TI and went straight down to Frankstone. Very interesting trip; it took a little time to get used to the TI. By the time I got used to the TI my daughter fell in fully clothes; got cold and we had to go in.

2nd sail - great, we set off at chelsea yacht club, great day, mild/mod winds clear calm water

We have set off at chelsea for a number of times now, I think that I have a good handle of the TI now.

This weekend we went down to Lake Wellington (SouthEast Vic). This trip was quite woolly, high gusts with a chop. This trip I have 2 adults and 2 kids,

Unfortunately photos are an issue; 1st trip had the aperture set too low and everything was overexposed. 2nd trip set everything just correct - forgot the battery :x

The next few time I think we were ok (I will post soon).

Lake Wellington ( left the camera on manual shutter and Rebecca did not realise (all pic out of focus  :? :x :x     :P :P :D :D

Photos to come!

Just thought I would add something.

I just took a trip from Tooradin to French Island (no pics). by the pic below it look as I didn't make it all the way; however, I bade it to the edge of the mangroves (water was only ~40cm). Then turned around and came home.

I thought I would try it 1st before I risked the family :D
It was a nice sail on the TI. Have a look at the GPS data.

Sounds like you've been having some fun. Only sailed a few times on Westernport bay. Lots of mud and narrow channels to contend with.

Hopefully Santa will deliver you a waterproof camera

I should be down at Shallow Inlet again over Christmas & New Year.

Sorry been off line for a bit, great to see you are getting the TI out, hope to catch up soon and we can go for a sail.

I have launched at Sommerville beach then across to French down to Balnaring and back to Somerville beach. Some great water/reefs over that way.

ELM,

Sounds great!
have you a GPS plot of your trip?
Will be taking the family out sometime mid December for a camping holiday on the island.

No I cannot transfer from my Humminbird FF/GPS that I know of.

If I do anything it's purely guess work on Google earth by transferring way points by written.
Sometimes I wish I bought a separate GPS unit or a more upgrade model with SD card, side scan etc. Maybe one day I will strike that pot of gold.

Have you been on vyak.net yet, it's a local Victoria, Australia site ? Oooops hope that's alright, mods please remove if not.
