I apologise if you have seen this post on another forum.
but here goes.

I am starting to get the picture about why the 'Shore Boys' seem to only catch snapper, :P

After a lousy week in the office, i decided it was time to head out onto the water for the medication, (take too fish and call me in the morning)...
Previously that week, the car had decided that it didnt want to go, so I phoned the old boy (who has the same car as me - my roofracks and tailbar fit his as well), and said hey, come over we are going fushing.

So the old boy who ususally sails a 22foot Nolex, said what the hell, so after telling him to dress for the wet, and bring a PFD, he promptly headed over.

We arrived at my 'shore spot' where, we launched and headed, out to the middle of nowhere, and without the guideance of fishfinder and the assorted plethora of fishing cr@P, we were sort of in the blind, and with the chaos of cars, kayaks, rig etc etc, we discovered that the 3 fishing knives I bought were safety locked away in the car - 'on shore'.

Nevermind, I soon spotted a familiar sail, and thanks to the tallest guy on 3 hulls, (Kev you the man), I had a knife to cut up the smelly bait.

After dragging a lure around for an hour or so, with not even the smallest hint of a strike, I decided to use the technical spot locator, licked a finger (pre bait of course), held it up to the wind, and pointed a Kilometre or so in the direction of '()*&%^&^#', that place which shall not be named.
Anyway, another 10 minutes of sailing and we were there, with anchor down and lines in the water.

First fish went to 'Dad' who landed a tasty 34cm Snapper, which was his first ever snapper, in fact, first ever fish caught in hauraki waters.
And it wasnt going to be the last, with 18fish bagged, 17snapps and 1 gurnard, and (you come out on Te Waka Nui - its compulsory) 2 sharks.

So, after a thorough workout, it was time to head in.
And the excitement didnt finish there, the car had a flat battery, and auto's are a bit hard to start with a flattie.

While Dad was on the blower trying to get hold of the AA, (that is almost a story in itself), I helped one of the 18footers (racing Yachts) from the water, to the ramp.
And after waiting for an Hour (possibly more) for the AA, I walked over the where the Yachtees were unrigging, and asked if anyone had jumper cables.
A feeling of Karma hit me as the same guy I had given a lift 30 minutes before, said yep, no worries, one good turn deserves another.
And soon after we were packed and heading back home.

Many thanks to the 18 footer guys, you truly are gentlemen.
as for the AA, I forgive you this time, but you are gonna need to pick up your game in future.
