Have tried orienting the cart post bushings different ways, but always they are bearing on a very small part of the hull.

I call that Bad Ju-Ju.

Seems like they should nestle down in there and bear on a combination of the black inserts and much more of the surrounding hull.

Right now, I would say things would be less bad with the bushings removed and the dolly's crossbay resting on the LowRace port cover.

"Good" would seem to be something like the add-on Plug-In- Cradle for TI's as per http://tinyurl.com/nmw42ak

What am I doing wrong?

I cannot understand Hobie not including AIs in their advice to use the Plug-in cradle as per http://tinyurl.com/nmw42ak.

I guess the question is how well the contours of the TI add-in match the AI's bottom

I think that even this would be an improvement: https://picasaweb.google.com/1081497986 ... 2948376946

In fact, I think I will bond a piece of 1/4" ply to the dolly-crossbar side and use that...... It cannot be any worse than what I am seeing out-of-the-box.

The TI cradle is due to weight of the TI not the cart clamp fit. The photo shows they fit the Adventure Island quite well. On some models they only have a small contact point. The concept is that the scupper areas are thicker and stronger than the belly, so they work as intended to transfer loads to the scupper area of the hull... even without a perfect fit.

There is no concern here, but if you want a softer contact... some users have added tennis balls or pads. But not at all necessary.

I am guessing "Belly" is obvious: the central domed (when upside-down) ridge running the length of the hull in the center - interrupted briefly by the LowRace cutout.

Can somebody put a finer point on "Scupper Areas" ? ..... Is it just the holes and, say, a half-inch around each? ..... Just the black inserts?

I am still having intuitive problems with the contact area using the bushings. ..... IIRC from somewhere a long time ago, an average woman wearing stiletto heels (similar contact area tp what I am seeing with the scupper dolly) can penetrate the aircraft-grade alu used on the floors of passenger jets.

The tubes and reinforced parts are the scuppers. The areas around the scuppers are thicker and very capable of carrying the load.

We have been using the clamps to prohibit denting of the belly for about 6 years without a single claim due to damage. Our engineers are quite confident in them.

In retrospect it sounds like I was being kind of dense about the whole thing....

But the contact area was just so small I needed to be sure nothing was lost in translation, so-to-speak.

I believe.

Thanks for humoring me.
