... with akas fully extended, of course....

I've been trying my best, but without success.

Has anybody managed to capsize or pitchpole with akas/amas fully extended ?

I was successful in flipping my '09 in the surf about a month ago...I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy now

Just saw these the other day from Abisil12 in the Canaries, Spain....

They're on Facebook... let me know if you can't see them and I'll try a different way to link.

(WOW.. I saw those pictures on facebook).. If I get caught in high winds there is nothing I would rather be on than one of these boats but man.. those folks took the boats out is some seriously nasty conditions.. YIKES!!!

In all the five years I was sailing my 2010 AI, I almost flipped it twice (Ama's extended) but never did. I had that boat out in some high winds but never with waves like in those pictures.. My 2015 TI seems a lot more stable, I think it would be extremely hard to flip.

edit - that is a TI on the facebook pictures that capsized. I wonder if thats a case where big waves broke the sheer pin..

Not sure but if you translate it does mention 'plastic pins'. Seem to recall they hardened their Island up with steel pins which would seem to fit given the mod seen here...

Thanks for posting those pictures. Those are some adventurous sailors.

It looks to me like they just got caught in the break. Must have been 15kts or more from the look of the little wavelets on the swell and I've seen great surf pop up off shore once the winds get high enough and/or the swell gets up.

Holy crap! That is serious sailing/swimming! I would love to see what it looked like after the wave passed.
