Any news for us Hobie AI/TI starved Antipodeans? Delivery dates, waiting times etc etc. Plus what are you guys doing to kill the wait?

De-rusted and repainted the trailer. Paint has had 4 Months or so to dry so far. Hope it's dry before delivery.
Made temporary rubber base for the boat to sit on, because the cradles probably won't make it before delivery. Lost 6kg pedalling my PA around while I have no AI 2.
Spent a lot of time reorganising all of my kayak gear. Stared at the empty trailer, wishing there was an AI on it.

I'm hanging out for a go on one. Looking forward for a demo from my local Hobie store. :)

"Stared at the empty trailer, wishing there was an AI on it."

That's exactly what I have been doing.

Trailer (which can't be finished cause I don't know how long the front cradle is going to be), replaced bearings, fishing gear, serviced all my reels, buying rod holders, repacked all camping gear, and Google Mapping potential new launch areas. Also planning for future operations up the coast.

The strike can't go for much longer, someone has to step in and take charge, it must be costing the US economy a fortune. I hope we get a mild winter.

We are camping again on Myall Lakes. I'm actually posting this from the shore of Two-Mile Lake.
I could never be without my Hobie so we are using them as we always do. Upgrades will have to wait.

BTW- If it helps, Summer sailing/camping isn't all it's cracked up to be.
By the time your new boats arrive conditions should be much better!
This is our 4th trip here but the first in Summer. Sticky 30degreeC days, extreme UV, and such a burning hot sun that I don't think our drinking water is going to last a week, let alone our ice. And look what we had to do to our Bimini cooking shelter:

The March flies are ferocious and huge! Mornings and evenings are terrible.

Then when it's dark from around 8:30pm the mozzies are in plague proportions for about 2 hours.
Never had those problems sailing and camping in Autumn Winter or Spring! So take heart that the delays are saving you from all of this.
Hope this helps with your delay frustrations.

Hi Stringy

Looks like a great spot! Two-mile Lake doesn't appear on my maps. What part of the Myall lake is it on?

Cheers

Brad

I think it's his secret spot Brad. We may have to hold him down and pumble him for the location.

That spot looks so good, except for the vampires. Move over Tony. Looks like Stringy will be in shortly for a blood top up.

Too late Russ! They sent me home yesterday, and will be visited by a nurse to change dressings daily. When my feet are healed, I get sent back to hospital for two spine operations. Fortunately I bought a new set of Caddis breathable waders early this week(only $130 inc. postage. http://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/29W ... est-waders), so I should be out on the water next week at last, with my feet nicely tucked away inside the waders. Haven't used my TI since last year :( :( :( :(

Good luck with the opp Tony,

The waders look great. Breathable fabric and neoprene shoes seem to tick all the boxs.

If I get my new TI before winter I might need to invest.........

Hi Slaughter,

When Stringy took me out for a test sail on the TI he gave me some hints about this campsite, so I might be able to work it out :)

Cheers

Brad

Good to see the feet are on the mend Tony. Remember, those waders are great while you're in the TI. But once you fall in the water, they can become a bit of a death trap.

Yeah Brad, Stringy told me you caught up. Looking forward to sharing an outing with you at some stage. We are just up the road from each other.

Russ, you are taking the mickey surely :) I thought that by now everybody knew that breathable waders are not a safety issue, rather it is the traditional heavy rubber ones with gumboot bottoms. Check out this link for confirmation!

I've already said too much. If I told you exactly where it was I'd be getting blamed for sending you two to such a hell hole. We are hoping our penance will be over by Tuesday. (Remember I'm trying to make those waiting on their new Islands feel a little better, you're better off not being here at this time of the year)

Good to see you're up and about Tony and will soon be on the water. 8)

Sorry Tony. Not taking the p_ _ _ at all ( this time ). I missed the word 'breathable' when I read your post. I haven't seen those ones before. Will be interested to read your product review.

I just looked at the radar Stringy. You're right. I don't think I would want to be there at the moment. At least the rain might keep to March flies and mozzies at bay
