NOHUHU :
Look in the background on the first video you posted above (about the revo 11) you will see a TI in the background, look underneath it, there is a large grey wheeled cart with a TI cradle on it, I wonder what this is.

That's the new TI cart with beach wheels. Also will be available with hard wheels for less $.

Not yet available for purchase... production is just starting and may be delayed 4-5 weeks due to a required part supply issue.

Matt,
I am trying to decide between a 2011 and 2012. I just watched the video of retrofitting te rudder on a 2011. The new rudder control lines are exposed in the hatch area after the refit. I assume on the 2012 that you have "cleaned up" the running those lines? Any other thoughts on 2011 vs 2012?

thanks again !

Only 2011s built before this spring would need to be retrofitted. All production... 2012's and later 2011's have longer tubes tucked up under the hatch lip.

I have a 2011 AI which I have modified quite a bit to make it suit me (also cause I have the time, and willingness to do it). You may not?

If I were you, and the price point is not your motivation to buy either, I'd prolly pick the 2012 as that is as good as it's gonna get until 2013.

However if the price is the object, I'd wait until late fall on a rainy cold day and buy a 2011 at a deal.

Hope that helps you with your decision

Fred

Matt:

My 2011 has the new rudder but from day one I have had the same problem and finally found yesterday what the cause may be.

While sailing I would suddenly lose the ability to turn right. At full lock, I would just go straight. Naturally once in a safe place it would work again.
Finally yesterday I was not near any other craft so I looked back over my shoulder and discovered that the Control line tube was "walking" in and out of the hull.

The video mentions an upside down padeye that secures these but in feeling around, the tubes feel like they are just resting on it, not locking into it. Should they lock in?
Guess I need a small mirror to better see what is going on. Ive considered a single drop of superglue on the hull where two meet but that may soak in and glue the line to the tube. (Not good)
Any help or advice is appreciated

The eye the tubes are hooked onto does not "lock" them in any way. The tube moving in the hull should not stop the steering in one direction. Maybe the control arm is hitting something inside the hull?

You probably have knots from 2 lines hitting each other at times. Often 2 knots are tied where they sometimes hit and limit each other.

Try looking in the hatches using a mirror. I recently found on my TI that the lines installed from the factory were wrapped around each other causing much harder steering since I've had it.

Or the new control line knots are snagging one of the small padeyes that were used to hold the old tubes. Or something else in the area.

If you have routed the lines around the hatch, rather than beneath it, this could be the problem.

Easy to check- easy to fix

I just saw in the rudder thread that a few folks were able to retrofit the rudder on their TI's without giving up the tubes and ending up with a clean back hatch area with some creativity (Dave?). Is there any reason (access, etc) that wouldn't be possible on an AI?
thanks again

When I installed the new rudder on my 2011 AI I used the old longer tubes. This keeps the aft hatch clear of the steering lines. The hard part was to tie the knots under the deck.

A new type of seat peg with a positive lock.

PLEASE tell me these seat pegs can retro-fit! Can they?!?

Despite roughing up the holes on my TI, nothing will hold those seat pegs in.

In the 'anals' of history is has been seen said....

(Salami, Salami, Pepperoni...)

He who wishes for big seat seat plugs may end up getting 'goosed' in the deal.

(Salami, Salami, Pepperoni...)

May the builder of seat plugs always remember the distance between the seat and the mid point in between....

(Salami, Salami, Pepperoni...)

So sayesth the seat plug builder Union Leader 'Backman', Local 478.

(Whaaaat? Am I gonna doubt historical fact?)

Not likely, I know exactly the difference between a comfy seat and 'impalement'

Cheers Butts (errr, I mean Buddies)
