I'm thinking about buying an Adventure Island or Tandem Isla

Well after a great test sail I've decided that a Tandem Island will be my next boat. Firstly thanks very much to Stringy for his generous offer and taking the time to take me for a test sail.

We peddled the TI across Lake MAcquarie from Toronto Park to Black Jack Point in the morning and when the wind picked up after lunch we sailed down to Pulbar Island. I can't thank Stringy enough for taking me out for a for the day and for allowing me to steer and play the sheet for most of the afternoon. We also discoverer that we grew up in the same suburb and went to the same high school as well!

I've decided the the 2015 improvements are worth waiting for. Also I've never owned a new boat so maybe now is the time. So now I just need to decide between Golden Papaya and Ivory Dune

What's the greatest danger, outside yourself, on the water. Answer, other boaters. What's the best color for being seen on the water? Answer, yellow/orange.

Mark, your theories are probably quite true with kayaks, but I believe the hull colour is irrelevent when there is a great big mast and sail above it. A TI or AI is highly visible even from big distance.

uh oh.. I think the color of the boat now has to get added to the politics and religion category..lol..

I’ve been sailing an AI for a bunch of years and just got a TI and have only sailed it one time. I tried both the front and back seats and think both are a little bit of a compromise over the optimum solo balance the AI has. I think the rear seat of the TI is a lot dryer than my old AI but the front seat of the TI may be wetter (with just one person on the boat). I ended up really liking the TI and will probably do my solo sailing from the rear. The one condition were I would have preferred the AI was when pedal sailing upwind in fairly windy conditions.. but I think the TI will do fine here also after I get more used to it.

Tony, when the sails out, sure. But in highly congested areas furled or in adventure mode, not nearly as much. Just put it this way, a more visible color isn't going to hurt you. In fact, yellow is shown to be much more visable at greater distances than say white. Unless you have a personal hang up on colors, why not go with that color that is the most visible. That's my logic in staying with the Papaya. I really could care less on what color my kayak is, personally.
But I can understand some folks having personal preference for the color they like.

I had a great day as well Brad. With the fickle winds, it was good you could experience the versatility of the TI.
Your prior sailing experience was clear to see, and despite the occasional tiller direction mix-up, it didn't take you long to get well ahead of our other TI sailing partner. I enjoyed just sitting back on the haka, letting you do all the work.
All up we covered around 25km. As we were in Slaughter's local waters it would have been good if he could have given us a tour of his favourite haunts. Shame he had his 'petrol head' on and was down at the Bathurst 12 hour. When you get your TI you'll have to hook up with him and give him a sailing lesson.

PS: Re the colour, I share Tony's view that if a 5.64m long craft with a 3.05m beam and 5.49 mast can't be seen, then what colour it is will make very little difference.
I've had both red and yellow hulls and would go with dune next.
