Hmmm hitch in front bumper...might have to look into that. Next time out I will tie the rear sail control line to the furling line.

Thanks Defy. We need to grab coffee and I can relate the story in more detail.

Tomorrow my first meeting isn't till 0930 so maybe we can finally grab some coffee. Shoot me an email in the morning.

Also once you put a rack on the trailer it will be easier to back in. that thing just has no weight and get's squirly fast. Not sure about the front bumper thing... I have had mine out like 10 times now and it's getting easier just need to remember to pull the drives before pulling it up on the trailer

I'm off the rest of this week. I have family coming in. We can try next week. Maybe I'll have another outing to report on by then too.

I was going to take the week as well but the weather is crappy so I am going to wait. If Friday clears up I am going to take that and fish a bit.

Tom, for learning to back trailers try placing your steering hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and rotate whichever direction you want the trailer to go. Takes the guesswork out of it. Short trailers are a pain and are very easy to over correct. Like you said you will get better with practice.

Glad you are enjoying the TI, still waiting on my maiden voyage :(

Thanks RN_Shark. I'll give that method a shot.

Wherespan. It was so windy there were white caps. I have family in town and my wife is having surgery in Thursday so I may not make it out this weekend. Although I would love to.

Down for a trip if you need someone, Wherespan would probably be like NASCAR a lot of left turns! I might be out there Sunday pending weather, I need to catch 3 Crappie for a Kayak fishing thing I am doing.

Saturday is looking nice. If I go I might try manawa. There is a beach that could make swapping passengers out easier.

You guys are making me jealous. I saw your new boat at Select Sail on Saturday and drooled near it. Mine is in the next batch - same color. The Eastern Nebraska lakes will soon be dotted with us all.

I know this will sound dumb, but when backing the trailer, does your Suburban have a rear door/hatch that you can open to see through?

I do, but with the third row in (I have 3 kids so it's always in) it still blocks the view. I think I would have the same issue with the Nissan Titan I used to own. It does have a rear view camera, so maybe I should just practice using that. ;)

Yep, that was my new ride. We must have just missed each other. I picked it up at around 2pm that day.

This year I would like us to create a Hobie Island Club for our area. We need a fun catchy name.

Land Locked Islanders
Great Plains Island Club

please submit your ideas...

Joe

I like the Land Locked Islanders. I'll see if I can think of any others.

I find that using my side mirrors is the best way to back a trailer. At least for me.
